DMAC Presentation Series

January 25th, 2010 PJ Moskal No comments

Dear Students,

I hope you had good break and your semester is off to a good start.

Following Mr. Dunkle’s suggestion, I would like to start a series of presentations conducted by students and faculty about a topic of your choice (most likely related to art and technology). The presentations would be rather concise, between 30 min. to an hour, and would be followed by a discussion.

Let’s meet for the first time this Wednesday, January 27 at noon, just like last semester. If this time doesn’t work for people we will then change to another time. We probably won’t be able to accommodate everybody’s schedule and will simply go with majority. As always, we will meet in the DMA lounge next to DMA Web Lab on the 3rd floor of Lyons.

I will kick off the series this Wednesday at noon with a presentation titled “Building Virtual Cities with Google SketchUp”. We will take a look at 3D modeling application called Google SketchUp and we will connect to Google Earth where we will place our virtual models. You are invited!

If you own a laptop you can bring it with you and follow along. Download Google SketchUp (http://sketchup.google.com) and Google Earth (http://earth.google.com) for free prior to the presentation.

If you have any questions or ideas for a presentation, just e-mail me moskalp@canisius.edu

Regards,
PJ Moskal

This is just an article talking about a youtube user who called himself “MadV” who was able to create a ground breaking youtube video that many people dont know about today. MadV first created a fan base by doing simple magic tricks behind a mask. Some examples

However once he started to build a fanbase, he released a simple 41 second video of himself displaying his hand with the words “One World” on it. He urged his fans to respond. Before long his simple video had become the most responded to video in all of youtubes history. Its preety cool to see so many people come together to respond to one video. Following this successful video MadV created another experimental video asking users to define what it means to be human. Again he recieved overwhelming responces from all over the world. Unfortuanitly his youtube account was deleted (Why the views are so low) But two montage videos were created afterwards. They are very powerful and you can watch them below.
