The Cansius College Video Institute is pleased to announce the acquisition of a 4K Blackmagic Production Camera! Jamie O’Neil’s DMA385: Digital Filmmaking course will begin using the camera in conjunction with the first-ever 4K Video Institute project (beginning production this winter). These cameras, which shoot RAW and Apple ProRes formats onto a removable 480GB hard-drive, represent a whole new level of creative possibilities beyond conventional SLR cameras. Prof. O’Neil is especially impressed with the wide dynamic range of the camera, and the application of the larger 4K files into special effects shots composited in Adobe After Effects. In our preliminarily tests, most students (like Michael Compton, DMA ’17 featured in the photo) are amazed with the ease-of-use of the 4K Blackmagic Design Production Camera.
