people on the internet come together

This is just an article talking about a youtube user who called himself “MadV” who was able to create a ground breaking youtube video that many people dont know about today. MadV first created a fan base by doing simple magic tricks behind a mask. Some examples

However once he started to build a fanbase, he released a simple 41 second video of himself displaying his hand with the words “One World” on it. He urged his fans to respond. Before long his simple video had become the most responded to video in all of youtubes history. Its preety cool to see so many people come together to respond to one video. Following this successful video MadV created another experimental video asking users to define what it means to be human. Again he recieved overwhelming responces from all over the world. Unfortuanitly his youtube account was deleted (Why the views are so low) But two montage videos were created afterwards. They are very powerful and you can watch them below.
It’s good to see the internet focusing on something other than the negativity and petty arguments that usually erupt on message boards or comment sections. Really, we’ve only scratched the surface of the potential for current technology to bring people together.
Youtube is one of the best examples of people being able to share a piece of themselves with the world around them. Unfortunately, this usually means pointless stunts or viral videos like “dramatic look gopher.” MadV posed some challenging questions for his fans (and people in general), and I think that they came up with some very interesting responses.
Thanks for sharing this!
I’ve actually been a really big fan of MadV thanks to one of my friends showing me his videos about a year ago. His videos have definitely gathered a very large following due to their inspiring feeling and mood. The way he makes his videos are extremely unique as he tries to unite everyone who watches them by trying to make people realize how close they are to one another, and how little they differ from each other, and that is no easy task.
It’s a very refreshing feeling watching his videos, because even though they can be classified as a viral video, it doesn’t really feel like one. Because as stated before me, videos like the “Dramatic Look Gopher” often get millions of views but don’t really mean anything more then a few laughs. MadV has set a new standard for these types of videos, and it really is a shame that he had his account disabled/hacked, or his creativity would be even more widespread.
I think MadV and his videos are a prime example of how the internet can be used for expressive art whether it be with animation in the card video or the video of the hand with a message. Art is no longer something that has to be a solid object that we can touch or feel especially with the advancement of video technology. Now we can mass produce or appeal to mass audiences within the comfort of our own home thanks to sights like Youtube. It is crazy to think that fame can come from sitting in your bedroom.
The whole point of art is to get a response from the viewer and make an impact on them by making them think. MadV’s video question that he got so many responses remind me of Post Secret. I think as humans we are always curious to see what other people think and feel because well we relate to eachother and are very similar more than we like to admit. I like seeing things like this on Youtube because even though its not professionally editted or theres no fancy special effects but its awesome to see actual people in the rawest form of just turning on their web cam and recording and capturing that very moment. I have watched many of his “magic tricks” and I am not certain they are real but they are entertaining and make me think. I really feel like his response video montage was very touching and real so it redeamed MadV for me. But I feel like Youtube can be used to express yourself and ideas and it is a very valuable tool in society because we are constantly being bombarded with all these “reality” tv shows and they arent reality at all they are very fake and not realistic. But I feel like Youtube gives us an opportunity to see people in their rawest forms, just like MadV’s montage of “What does being a human mean?”.
