Photography has come to shape our culture and the way we see the world. Until recently it was inconceivable that the line separating disciplines such as painting and etching from photography could ever be crossed. The wealth of possibilities photography has to offer was explored by the participants of this year’s Polish-American photography workshop in Monastir, Tunisia (January 7-14, 2010), lead by Dr. Mariusz Dąbrowski from Warsaw Academy of Fine Arts in Poland and Dr. Justine Price from Art History Department at Canisius College.

I was a part of the Polish-American photo-workshop this year and I thought that it was a great experience. We left for Poland and stayed in one of Warsaw’s dorms before we flew off with Polish students to Tunisia, Africa. I’ve had some experience with photography from high school, but learned some more about it on this trip. Tunisia was a beautiful place to take photographs.
Going through the markets was one of my favorite things to do because I got to see some of Tunisian culture and haggle for some nice souvenirs. I also enjoyed the beach that was located near our hotel. That was also a great place to take photographs. I definitely recommend going on this trip in 2011! To anyone who is interested and may participate, try to see as much of Poland as much as you possibly can or are able to. The four of us from Canisius wanted to see more of Poland, but we couldn’t get around to it. As for Tunisia, I’m sure you will see pretty much all of the country. We saw a lot of the country in just one day, and it was awesome.
